Welcome!
My artwork consists of drawings and paintings, which were created in a variety of mediums. I consider myself a realist, however I push the limits of realism by being open to experimentation with abstraction or graphic reduction. I acknowledge what can be accomplished with computers, e.g. graphic design, digital illustration, etc., but I prefer to create art through hands-on means of drawing and painting because they provide a more tangible creative experience.
My inspiration and influences come from a variety of sources, including art history, elements of popular culture, events that either have occurred in the past or are happening in the world today, as well as personal experiences, interests, and beliefs. I have a long list of artists that I admire, such as Caravaggio, Franz Marc, Georges Seurat, Yves Tanguy, Salvador Dali, Georgia O'Keefe, and Bridget Riley to name a few.
Content is a vital factor of my work because after considering multiple resources for subject matter, I use symbolism to make a statement or tell a story while attempting to bring the viewer into the composition. Even if I am just painting or drawing a still life, I attempt to make it my own by including something that represents me. For example, it could be cards spelling out my birthday or a flower corresponding with a personality trait.
The goal of my artwork is to captivate the viewer, spark emotion, ask questions, and celebrate the freedom of expression and creativity.
Thank you for visiting my pictorial gallery!
