Come On!
Come On!
Acrylic on canvas
24 in x 36 in
2012

This was an attempt to work in aesthetics similar to those of Katherine Bernhardt, an artist of this day who paints unrecognizable portraits of fashion models from media sources using layers of runny, liquid acrylics. Significantly, her painting process takes up to thirty minutes.

The night before I started painting this, Mr. and Mrs. Smith was on TV, which motivated me to attempt to paint a tough Angelina Jolie expression. Contrarily, the painting process took me three or four hours because as I mentioned I do not like to rush the creative process when I paint. However, I was taken with the dripping effect of Bernhardt's paint.
